Can you believe 2017 is around the corner? It feels like just yesterday I was taking down my tree and storing away all my decorations for the next year. I\u2019m not complaining though; I love this time of year for so many reasons. Seasonal coffee creamers (Hello, Peppermint Mocha!), the false hope it will snow in Texas, holiday home d\u00e9cor, gift wrapping (No I didn’t stutter), fires in the fireplace and just the overall vibes. One of the things I love the most are the holiday traditions my family has kept alive for 30+ years.<\/p>\n

Symbolic Ornament<\/strong><\/h2>\n

My grandma has been collecting hallmark ornaments since 1976. My aunt and mom decided back then they would get her a Hallmark ornament symbolizing that year and gift it every Christmas Eve. Each year I still get a kick out of going through all her ornaments and seeing the differences in design throughout the years. She keeps all her ornaments in mint condition, so at times I\u2019m in shock that some of the oldest ornaments actually possess the most detail and uniqueness.<\/p>\n

2014 was her last year of doing the tradition, as her tree was about to fall over from ornament overload. Since then my aunt has started to do it with her kids, and one day I probably will too! I cherish it every year and one day someone in our family will have a century worth of ornaments to look through.<\/p>\n

COOOOKIES!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We take our Christmas cookie baking real serious. More specifically, the decorating. It\u2019s really more of a sport in my family. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Every year we make a ton (literally hundreds) of sugar and candy cane cookies and spend all day listening to Mariah Carey\u2019s \u201cMerry Christmas\u201d and Elvis\u2019s \u201cBlue Christmas\u201d albums while making sure each individual cookie is decorated to perfection. Afterwards we take them to friends, family, neighbors, coworkers (Yes fellow Redonkian\u2019s) and share the cookie love!<\/p>\n

Christmas Eve Gift<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I\u2019m not really sure when this tradition started, all I know is every Christmas Eve since I was a little girl we always opened one gift on Christmas Eve and it was ALWAYS holiday themed pajamas. No, not just me either\u2026 everyone in the family got some sort of pajamas to wear the night before Christmas.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s pretty hilarious seeing the whole family rocking holiday pajamas that we\u2019ll probably only wear a couple times before the year\u2019s over.<\/p>\n
