This could be the project manager in me, but it’s kind of great being able to take two steps and bother any member of the team with my questions (They love it!).

This being my first job out of college, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew very little about the differences between big agency vs. small agency and how those differences can become deal breakers for certain individuals searching for a new position.

Throughout my almost two years here, I’ve learned quite a bit and have found working in a small team has given me the opportunity to use skill sets I wasn’t even sure I had.

Collaboration

Being able to wear many hats at a small agency is a must. You learn to help out where you’re needed; even if it’s something you know very little about. Kind of like when I typed my first line of code a month ago 😉

Yes, there will be times when you’re out of your comfort zone, but practicing and learning something new will help out your team when deadlines are tight and make you even more of a valuable asset.

If you were to tell me two years ago I would be writing tweets and blog posts for Redonk’s social media accounts… well I would have laughed. Not because I don’t like it, but because I wouldn’t have expected to be trusted to produce relevant content. Now it’s one of my favorite things to catch up on when there’s downtime!

Involvement

Being able to work on a project from start to finish is extremely rewarding. Where at a larger agency I might have involvement with one aspect of the project and never see it again, here I get to see the entire process go down.

It’s also cool that at one point, everyone from the team has had some sort of involvement with the outcome. Whenever the project is complete, everyone is collectively excited to see the end result.

Client Relationships

Bigger often time means more process, more approvals, and more hurdles along the way. At a small agency our goal is to understand the client’s creative needs, develop a plan, and execute an efficient process in order to meet their deadline.

We’re incredibly accessible to our client’s and passionate about creating great customer experiences.

Culture

We’re all passionate about producing great work. We all want to be here, and we all want to see the agency succeed. We also take pride in going out for team lunches and having the occasional beer o’clock Fridays when it’s been a busy week.

Everyone here contributes a lot to the team, and although we may be small we produce big work!

Big agency vs small agency?
